Situated on the west bank of the River Shannon, County Roscommon is easily reached from all parts of the country as it is serviced by the N4, N5 and N6 National Primary routes as well as the Dublin-Sligo and Dublin-Westport rail routes.  
 

The Abbeyfield Hotel is less than a 2 minute stroll from the centre of Ballaghaderreen on the sligo road. Ballaghaderreen is located on the N5, just 20 miles from Knock Airport.

The Douglas Hyde Centre whiere the final lecture of the weekend happens on Sunday morning is also located on the N5 three miles east of Ballaghadereen towards Dublin.

The Cruachán Ai Centre , where the field trip goes to on Sunday afternoon is in Tulsk Village, on the N5 between Ballaghaderreen and Strokestown. A bus will be provided to and from the centre for the field trip
