Roscommon County Council's Arts Service offers three main support programmes for
primary schools in the County. |

1. Artist in Schools Programme
The Artist in Schools Scheme is a residency programme for primary schools in the County. The aim of this scheme is to offer pupils the opportunity to work with an artist on a once off project, designed between the artist and the school. The residency lasts for 50 hours in total and can be spread out over one term. Owing to a overwhelming damand for the scheme in recent years, the arts office is not accepting new applications from schools for the years 2010 and 2011. 2. Primary School Source Handbook
This project was initiated in 2003 to cater for schools that could not avail of the residency scheme due of the small number of residencies available in any one year. As part of the programme over 30 professional artists from all disciplines have been commissioned to design lesson plans for innovative arts workshops. The plans are age specific are designed to be easily implemented by those that may have limited experience in some of the artforms. |

3. Teachers Resource Material
The Arts Office has collected a wide variety of Arts Resource books for all artforms from across the world for use by teachers. These books are available to primary school teachers from the County Arts Office, Roscommon West Business Park, Circular Road in Roscommon Town.
