The county’s last arts plan is coming to an end and we are now planning Roscommon County Council’s policies and strategies for the arts for the next five years. The plan entitled “Sustaining the Arts” will be driven by the key objectives of making programmes permanently sustainable into the future and developing key programmes and approaches designed to improve the ability of artists to make a living from the arts.
In order for this to be successful we need to be informed about the varying needs and challenges facing artists, arts organisations and audiences in order to design the steps that are needed to overcome these.
A number of public meetings will be held throughout the year but we also welcome your opinions outside of these and encourage you to contact the Arts Office. |

Roscommon County Council's Arts Plan 2004-2007 provides the opportunity to structure the delivery of its Arts Service over the coming years in a practical and accessible manner. The plan communicates the nature and rationale of the County Council's provision for the arts. Overall, the Plan is about engagement, that between practitioners, participants, audiences and the general public and the supports that will enhance that engagement in the coming years.
The Arts Plan 2004-2007 looks back at the programmes that the Arts Service has engaged in over the last few years and together with thorough research into current needs, plans for the future implementation and organisation of that service over the coming years. The conception and organisation of many of the programmes that the Arts Service has pursued have been developmental in their nature and demonstrate characteristics that not only enable them to generate substantial positive impact for both artists and participants, but also to incrementally advance the development of the arts locally. Building on this experience we have developed a three-year strategy for the continued sustainable development of the arts in County Roscommon. |
